Online workshop next week!
Creating 'a place to go to': using art and design in restorative justice
I always love facilitating workshops. One of the joys, for me, is seeing how participants create such different things from the same starting point. This, for me, in itself is testimony to our innate creativity as human beings.
I also particularly love being able to offer creative exercises to practitioners to try out with clients, to develop their practice, or to act as a reflective tool, or all three of those.
So, next Tuesday morning (UK time) - 10 November - I am looking forward to facilitating a practical 2.5 hour online workshop in collaboration with The Mint House, UK. Entitled, Creating a place to go to, the workshop will offer participants:
- A ‘toolkit’ of creative exercises to takeaway and use with clients
- A basic knowledge of the research and theory behind using art and design approaches within restorative practice
- An introduction into how to use creative tools as part of a trauma-informed approach
- An understanding of how art and design approaches can provide more inclusive and accessible spaces for restorative ways of working
The workshop is suitable for restorative justice practitioners, social workers, probation workers, youth justice and criminal justice practitioners, artists and creative practitioners who work in participatory and community settings. You don't need to have any prior experience or knowledge of art and design or of using art materials in order to take part - just enthusiasm and curiosity!
Booking details may be found here.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
